GSA 1, located in the Western Mediterranean Sea, extends on an area of 11,920 km². The MEDITS survey has been carried out since 1994, primarily during the second quarter of the year. Since the 1994-2001, the sampling intensity has increased from 34 hauls to an average of 44 hauls per year. The survey was not conducted in 2020.
